Tate Ude Uke

Vertical Forearm Block:
This is the final block that the attacking side performs in Nihon Kumite before the defending side is thrown. It can be performed in one of two ways. In Nihon it is performed by thrusting the right hand directly down with the forearm exposed to the opponent thereby blocking the Gedan Tetsui Uchi to the groin. The other way to perform this is to start with the arm straight and slightly outside the center of the body then move in along the vertical plane to again block a groin strike. The opposite hand stays in conver during the manuever.
