Jodan Uke
Upper Area Block: When blocking with your right hand, your left hand prepares straight out as if punching but with no real target (diversionary tactic). The right arm prepares next to the left ear in a similar way to Gedan Barai. As the left arm comes back to cover, the right arm arches over and in front of the head while twisting the arm so that the back of the hand (fist) is facing backwards. The final position is with the upper arm out from the body and slightly forward and the forearm is held 90 degrees up with respect to the upper arm. |
