Kage Shuto Uke

Hooking Knifehand Block:
Seen first in the attacking side of Go-Ippon Kumite Kata with the Tate Zuki blocking form, the movement is small. In Go-Ippon, the hand is at the last step in Gedan Barai. As the blocker comes forward with his/her Tate Zuki, the attacker blocks simply by opening the hand to shuto, and in a counter- clockwise circular motion (opposite for the right hand), catches the punch and directs it away from the body. (See Yellow II section on Go-Ippon for a more detailed description of the attack).
