Soto Uke

Outside Block:
This is one of the most aggressive of the Uchi-Uke (striking) blocks. Blocking with the right arm, the left arm prepares straight out as if punching but with no real target (this is diversionary). The right arm prepares with a fist and with the elbow pointing out and the fist pointing towards the ear. As the left arm is withdrawn back to cover, the right arm comes down in a motion to directly attack the opponents arm. The arm finishes its move with the elbow pointing towards the belt and the arm in the same finishing position as with Chudan Uke (approximately a 45 degree angle out from the body slightly foreward and to the outside).
