Greetings:
Ten-Chi Kenpo is a system of empty-handed self-defense founded by
Master Norman Armstrong. It combines elements of several martial arts to
create a complete self-defense system. Kenpo Karate means "Empty Hand
Boxing" as well as "Empty Hand Fist Law", and Ten-Chi means "Heaven and
Earth". Ten-Chi Kenpo seeks to unite the complementary opposites of
heaven and earth, left and right, upper and lower, self and other, hard
and soft, and instructor and student, bringing an attitude of peace and
harmony into day-to-day living.
Boulder Ten Chi Kenpo is an affiliation of Ten Chi Kenpo
programs and is based in the Boulder, CO area. Head Instructor Vince Biondolillo is a student of Josh White, founder of Boulder Ten Chi Kenpo, who is in turn
a senior student of Elliott Edwards, the founder of Greater Boston Ten Chi
Kenpo. Sensei Edwards is a senior student of Master Armstrong. The main
training center for the Boulder Ten Chi Kenpo is
located at Kake's Studio's in downtown Boulder.
At Boulder Ten Chi Kenpo, we focus on providing a safe, harmonious
training environment for women and men of all ages and ability levels. We
are non-competitive and non-aggressive. While self-defense skills and
hard workouts are key aspects of our training, the main focus is on
training together as a way to build community, as well as learning to defend
one's self and better their themselves. This is the way the
martial arts were originally taught, and we seek to continue in that
tradition.
